Travelling to the hills is not just about Darjeeling and Kalimpong. At present, the unexplored villages of North Bengal have become more popular with tourists. Bengalis are choosing offbeat spots to spend a few days in a peaceful environment. Lungchu village of North Bengal is surrounded by pine forest at a height of about 5250 feet and along with Kanchenjunga covered with snow the small hilly village of Lungchu is standing silently.
The distance from New Jalpaiguri to Lungchu village is 120 km by road. And if you go via New Mall Junction, then the distance is 76 km. The road passes through Neora Valley National Park through Lava. There is no share car from New Jalpaiguri. If you want to reserve the car, then the cost of the car will be 5000 to 5500. However, if you want to go at a lower cost, you can take a bus from Siliguri PC Mittal Bus Stand to Lava. Getting down to Lava, you will get a share or reserve car from Lava to Lungchu. In case of reserved cars, the cost is ₹1500 per share. Be sure to book your car in advance, though. But at some point, the rent goes up.
We walked out of the city into the green. Our car is driving up the mountain. After about 3 hours we reached Lava the land of clouds and mountains. Lungchu village can be reached by passing through Neora Valley National Park from Lava at a distance of about 17 kilometres. However, there is a check post at the entrance of the national park. An entry fee of Rs 200 can be paid. The road is muddy. There are trees on both sides of the road and we are walking between them. Four hours later, we arrived at a small village. The name of the village is Lungchu. We climbed up to the Skyline Retreat Lungchu Homestay. the blue sky above. Kanchenjunga is peeping in front of the eyes and the mountains surrounded by greenery on three sides. Skyline Retreat Lungchu Homestay has a total of three rooms. Beds are very nicely decorated. As soon as you open the window, you can see the mountains of Kanchenjunga, Lava and Rishop. From here the mountains of lava and the small houses in them can be seen by opening the windows.
The next morning I went to see the mountain. The landscape around the village is beautiful. Changey Waterfalls is a little away from Lungchu village. To go to Changey Waterfalls you have to get a ticket for twenty rupees per head. At the side of the road there is a fence. It won’t be very difficult. However, the road is a bit bumpy. I can tell you that you will miss a lot if you do not come to this Changey Waterfalls. Water is available throughout the year. The Changey Waterfalls are beautiful. Be sure to spend some time here. Your mind will be calm. From here you can go to the Changey River. Beautiful river side. There is a temple nearby adjacent to it. The temple is built on a rock. From here you can go to Kolakham which is another hilly village. You can stay here. There are a number of Kolakham Homestays nearby. Why don’t you stay here? You get a mountain view from here. From here you can enjoy the beauty of the mountains.
