Kuwait, the second fastest growing economy in the Middle East, has a modern and luxurious airline. Kuwait Airways baggage allowance is different for each travel class. For instance, Royal Class and First class can carry 3 free baggages of 32kg each. On the other hand, Economy class has an allowance of 1 piece of maximum 7 kg weight.  In addition to your carry-on baggage, passengers can carry up to one additional item, which can be as follows: women’s handbags, briefcases, coats, cloaks or blankets, umbrellas, binoculars or small cameras, crutches or walking sticks. Or duty-free items purchased on the day. This provides the passengers a lot of flexibility.

  • Liquid carry-on restrictions are in place for all passengers boarding and transiting at Kuwait International Airport and many other airports around the world. Please check the relevant airport restrictions before you travel.
  • Please note that due to these restrictions, you may not be able to carry liquid duty-free items purchased prior to these flights, including items purchased on board, if carried as part of your regular carry-on baggage. It is recommended that you check the regulations that apply at all transit airports.
  • Sports equipment and musical instruments are subject to the same size and weight restrictions as other carry-on baggage and may be subject to transit point restrictions.

This Kuwait Airways Baggage Policy is beneficial for the passenger as not it cuts cost and allows them to carry more articles with themselves. There are some terms and conditions attached to it. Some important ones that you as a passenger should know about are listed below:

  • Prepaid excess baggage can be purchased online, via mobile phone, APP, Kuwait Airways offices or call center (171).
  • Prepaid excess baggage applies only to Kuwait Airways operated flights and is based on the origin and destination of each passenger.
  • Prepaid excess baggage cannot be purchased through web check-in.
  • Prepaid excess baggage can be purchased online up to 24 hours prior to scheduled departure.
  • Unused prepaid excess baggage is non-refundable but can be used on Kuwait Airways flights within 1 year from the date of issuance of the prepaid excess baggage service.
  • Purchased prepaid excess baggage is not transferable to another passenger. Certain routes are not eligible for prepaid excess baggage service.
  • Special baggage such as sports equipment/musical instruments, overweight, oversized baggage, and checked baggage are not eligible for the Prepaid Excess Baggage Discount.
  • In case of NO SHOW, prepaid excess baggage charges will not be refunded.

The last, often overlooked but equally important area that a passenger should know about are the articles restricted by Kuwait Airlines, following is a list that outlines the articles restricted by the airline:

  • Pistols, firearms, and other projectile-firing devices (Devices intended to fire projectiles to inflict serious injury, or which may be confused with such devices)
  • Stunning device (Devices specifically designed to stun or immobilize)
  • Objects with sharp points or sharp edges (Objects with sharp points or edges that can cause serious injury, including)
  • Worker Tool (Tools that can cause serious injury or compromise aircraft safety include)
  • Blunt Instruments
  • Objects capable of being used to cause serious injury when used to hit, including:
  • Explosives and Incendiary Substances and Devices (Explosive or incendiary substances or devices capable of being used to cause serious injury or threatening the safety of the aircraft)
  • Liquid, aerosol, gel (Liquids, aerosols and gels, unless each container is 100 millilitres (or equivalent) or less and placed in a clear, resealable plastic bag not exceeding 1 liter (or equivalent). The contents of the plastic bag should fit snugly and the bag should be completely closed. Exceptions should be made for medications, infant formulas/foods, and special dietary needs.)
  • Explosive and incendiary materials and equipment (Explosive or flammable materials or devices that could cause serious injury or endanger aircraft safety)
  • Electronic Cigarette (Electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes, including electronic cigars, personal vaporizers or electronic nicotine delivery systems containing batteries are strictly prohibited in Checked Baggage)
