The cultural Al Balad
Welcome to all of the pilgrimages that arrive by sea heading for Medina and Mecca. Al Balad is the main entrance and originally formed part of the walls but these sadly are no more. Even without the mighty walls that once surrounded it, it’s still an impressive site today. Most of Jeddah’s walls torn down in the 1940 and that is a real shame. Historical accounts tell us that the earliest parts of the walls date to the 10th Century. With the oil boom of the 1970s and 80s Jeddah rapidly expanded northwards. And the historic district emptied and fell into disrepair.
It was an easy prey victim to property developers but the credit to the city’s authorities that didn’t let that happen. The great effort was put into restoring the historic City and bringing it back to life. It is one of the most beautiful historic districts in the whole of the Middle East. Give vast amount of historic buildings, it’s not surprising that some of them are still in need of extensive renovation.
Perhaps the best way to enjoy al Balad is to wander aimlessly around the labyrinth. Bear in mind that it’s late November early on a Friday morning and it is already 32°.
Nassif house
This is not some Museum District simply preserved for tourists it is a living breathing neighborhood. Well it took me a while but i finally located the Nassif house, the most famous mansion in the city. It is probably one of the most photographed buildings in Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately it is close for renovations sometimes. Near to the Nassif house, there is a cultural initiative aimed at keeping alive the arts and crafts that formed this District.
Nassif house is also famous for its single tree that grew years ago. The tree grew up when there was water shortage in city and no trees at anywhere. Ramadan 2025 is coming closer and it is the best time for advance bookings. If you want to visit Nassif house check out customer testimonials while pre-booking Ramadan Umrah packages 2025 to avail best.
AL Mimar mosque
Dating back to the late 17th century the al Mimar mosque is one of the jewels of the old city. If you want to explore the place by yourself then Friday morning is definitely the time to come. In Al Alawi Street you are going to find this mosque. It is definitely a historical mosque second to the Al Shafi mosque. The Al Alawi Street is in the west of Mahalla. There are regularly prayers offer in this Mimar mosque. There are two gates for entrance in this Mimari mosque.
Mustafa Mimar Pasha started the construction of this historical mosque in his governor era. After reading a lot of history building books, I got to know it built in 1240 AH. The exact date is visible because it is engraved in mosque’s old stone. Mosque is truly a fantastic example of good architecture of Mimar era. It is five times higher than the street, oh god. Don’t know how architecture used to design these shahi buildings. The mosque has a link with the endowment administration of Jeddah. So what are you waiting for grab your Umrah packages and pray here.
Al Saif Beach
You are thinking oh Jeddah is boring place, specific to pilgrimages. No, you are wrong my friend trust me the beaches here are mind blowing. Now if you want to hang out or have some quality time don’t think just go to al Saif beach. People swim here, go for picnic and do all beach stuff. The sun bath here is worth taking and to take some good pictures.
You will see people having bar bee cue live and carrying meals in sand. With the stunning views of the sun and sea together, you will forget that you are sitting in KSA. Children love playing in sand and building castles in sand and laughing hard. There is a huge car parking space and it is about 60 km away from city main. Important thing is beach is highly neat and clean and a perfect camping spot.
Let me tell you guy an interesting point; it is not just a beach but a hiking point too. Yes, there is a pebble land with grass and trees where you can walk and relax. People in Ramadan while having fast will find it so peaceful. Just have a friendly Ramadan Umrah package and make your way towards this sandy ocean beach. Just off the beaten track and enjoy the city around as it is much more than a pilgrimage city.
